The WGPA has oganised an Advisory Group, consisting of individuals drawn together for their expertise in various areas relevant to the WGPA such as business and research. Their guidance is invaluable to the executive, in supporting the wider membership.

Siobhan Farrell

Siobhan Farrell, CEO, Compete With Compassion

Previously head of Player Development at GPA, Siobhan has been an avid champion of the WGPA from the start. Siobhan is a passionate leader and experienced life coach, with a wealth of knowledge and a distinguished record in the area of supporting players. Siobhan has a comprehensive understanding of the issues faced by players and in her current role, continues to work with individual and group development in high-performance environments.

Katie Linston

Dr Katie Liston, Senior Lecturer, UUJ

Dr Katie Liston has worked in the Irish and UK Universities sector since 1998, having completed her PhD in sociology at University College Dublin. She joined Ulster University in 2008 as part of the teaching and research team in the social sciences of sport. Her impressive sporting background includes national and international honours in team sports, winning All-Ireland titles with Kerry, as well as representing Ireland in soccer and being involved at underage level with Irish women’s rugby. Katie also has a wealth of wide-ranging administrative, management and coaching experience, and is Chair of the Advisory Board of Amazing Brains.

Walter Palmer

Walter Palmer, Director of Dartmouth for Life

Walter Palmer is an American former professional basketball player who played in the NBA and European leagues, before moving into player union activism. Walter went on to co-found the EU Athletes, subsequently held roles with the NBPA and the World Players Association, and now works Dartmouth University. Walter has been an esteemed consultant for different players associations and sports related businesses, and is a one of the leading athlete rights advocates worldwide.

Linda Mellerick

Linda Mellerick, Director Of Operations and CFO at SELC Ireland Ltd

Former All-Ireland winning Cork Camogie captain, Mellerick has excelled in business world, responsible for the significant turnaround and growth of GxP Systems, which was sold to a Fortune 500 company in 2015. She continues to demonstrate successful leadership, apparent throughout a playing career in which Mellerick won 6 All-Ireland titles and was named on the Camogie Team of the Century. Linda also remains close the game, covering club and county games through print articles and radio broadcast.
